Ozone Monitor Service & Calibration

Calibration Frequency

465-L Ozone Monitor

We suggest calibrating all ambient ozone monitors once every year at a minimum. Calibration every 6-months is suggested in applications where accurate ozone measurements are critical. There are different calibration procedures depending on the sensor of your monitor. Many sensors can be replaced with pre-calibrated sensors, but others require traditional calibration with a zero and span adjustment. There is a table at the bottom of this document outlining each monitor we sell and the calibration procedure. If you have any questions about the calibration of your monitor, please call 712-439-6880 or email info@ozonesolutions.com.

Checking Calibration

Checking the calibration of your monitor can be done on-site using a variety of methods. Some sensors can be checked with factory provided verification, others can be bump tested to ensure the sensor still responds to ozone.

Low Cost

Once the necessary parts have been determined for your repair, you will be contacted with an estimate detailing the expected cost. Part cost will vary depending on brand and function, but will be detailed on the estimate. All repair costs are sent to the customer for approval prior to the work being done - so you know beforehand what your expenses will be. If you should decide to not proceed with the repair, you are only billed our flat $50 diagnostic fee.

Transmitter

After repair, all UV Ozone Analyzers are warmed up and go through our standard calibration process. Calibration is necessary since replacement of components can lead to slight changes in device readings. These changes need to be accounted for prior to putting the equipment back into service. Calibrations are NIST-traceable and result in NIST-traceable calibration certificates that are sent back along with the device. Click here for more details on our ozone analyzer calibration process.

OG-3 Calibration Checker

The OG-3 Calibration Checker is manufactured by Eco-Sensors and will work with almost all of Eco-Sensors products to check their calibration. It is important to realize that this device is not intended to offer a certified calibration or to be used to adjust calibration. This device is only intended to check the calibration of your sensor and ensure it still responds to ozone within a reasonable and acceptable range of measurement. Two ranges are available (0.1 ppm and 1 ppm,) so pick the range that best fits your application.

NIST Traceable Calibration

All of our calibrations are NIST traceable and come with a calibration certificate for your files. Our comparison standards and ozone calibrators are based on a NIST traceable transfer standard that is calibrated every 6 months. The calibration certificate includes customer information, device information, standards information, environmental testing conditions, as-received data for the device and final data for the device. Further data can be added, if necessary, to meet your regulatory requirements. E-mail us for a sample copy.

Ozone Analyzer Assessment

es-600Prior to calibration, all analyzers are inspected for problems and warmed up for a minimum of 12 hours, then readings are taken to establish "As Received" data. They are then cleaned (internal and external) and flushed to eliminate residue that may interfere with readings. All device functions are checked for proper operation prior to calibration service.

Calibrating Your Monitor

Ozone Solutions offers two basic calibration services depending upon the type of monitor you own. The services offered are described below.

Calibration Service Description
Pre-Calibrated Sensor Some monitors have a disposable sensor board. This is the most convenient type of monitor. When your annual calibration date arrives, we ship you a pre-calibrated sensor board (including fresh calibration and calibration certificate.) You replace your sensor with this new unit and dispose of your old sensor on-site. There is no need to send anything back to Ozone Solutions. These types of monitors can greatly reduce downtime compared to other models that require calibration at our facility.
Refurbished Sensor Head Refurbished sensor heads are available for monitors where the pre-calibrated sensor carries a higher cost. This is a common approach with the AeroQual ozone monitors. This offers the customer a low cost alternative, while retaining the convenience of on-site sensor replacement. With this option, Ozone Solutions can ship a refurbished sensor head to the customer. Your sensor head will be replaced with this refurbished sensor head and the old ozone sensor head must be shipped back to Ozone Solutions for a credit.
In-House Calibration Some monitors do have the capability of being calibrated with an adjustable Zero and Span setting. These monitors can be calibrated to a known standard of ozone produced from a calibration source. For this procedure, they can be shipped back to Ozone Solutions where we will calibrate it to a known NIST standard and supply you with a NIST traceable calibration certificate. Alternatively, these monitors can be calibrated on site by your calibration department, if equipped with the necessary equipment. Over time the sensors used in these devices will become less sensitive to ozone and will require replacement. These sensors can be replaced by Ozone Solutions at our facility or we will send you a replacement sensor and provide instructions for your calibration department to replace and calibrate the sensor.

Controlled Environment

Our calibration lab is an enclosed environment that allows us to monitor and control our testing environment. In addition, the use of controlled chambers and high-end ozone calibrators allow for calibration at stable ozone levels.

Analyzer Repair

If our analyzer assessment and calibration process reveals any components that are failed (or are otherwise outside of standard operating specifications,) then those components will need to be replaced before calibration can proceed. In those instances, the customer is notified and a repair estimate is sent for approval prior to that work being performed. See our Ozone Analyzer Repair page for further details.

Turnaround

The Monitor Department at Ozone Solutions takes pride in providing service and ozone analyzer repairs as quickly and effectively as possible. Depending on parts availability, we aim for a 2 week turn-around on all of our ozone analyzer repairs. If any delays are expected due to parts, this is usually known within the first few days of service and is often indicated on your repair estimate. If the time-frame for the repair does not suit your schedule, we have ozone analyzers available for rent which can keep you up and running while your equipment is being serviced.
